Has It Really Been 2 Years?

On Friday at work I cleaned a girl's teeth who is a hygiene student at Ohio State. As we got talking she told me she was getting ready to take the N.E.R.B. clinical board exams the next day. I immediately felt nauseated!! So many memories came flooding through my mind of the dreadful board exams. I couldn't believe it had already been 2 years since graduation. Actually I think it was this same time in 2006 I was in California celebrating graduation when I got a phone call from Crystal saying we had all passed National's (which was an awful 8 hour test). YEAH! So in honor of graduation I thought i would post a few pics of the good ol' days----or, were they really good?!
This is me trying to teach Crystal and Melissa mathematical
conversions for local anesthetic.
Ok, this is Crystal trying to learn the math...does it look like it's working?!
I'm not sure how we passed, although I'm sure I know how I gained a few extra lbs. during those few months of "studying" at Lampros Hall!
This must have been one of the last days of clinic...otherwise we wouldn't be smiling! The 4 stooges---Melissa (too cute to smash her face on the window), Crystal, Me, & Kels.

Actually we usually were smiling and laughing in clinic....between Crystal always dancing/blowing her nose (which sounded like a fog-horn), crazy patients with gas, and all the drama of having 29 1/2 women in the same class there was plenty of time for laughs!
Kelsie (aka 'Sister Garrett' for one more month), me, Crystal and Melissa at our graduation banquet at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in SLC.
Heather, Crystal, Monica, Me, Meliss and Natalie (w/baby Ryker in belly). Just outside the clinic where we spent every minute together.
The big day....you can't tell we're excited can you?
Weber State Dental Hygiene Class of 2006!
Way to go...hope you're all enjoying your paychecks!

I really do have to tell our class good job....that patient I cleaned told me she has some friends moving to Arizona and Colorado so they have to take W.R.E.B. boards and she said they seem a lot more difficult/picky about patients than the clinicals here. Who knew we would all find that "impossible patient" and make it through?

I have to tell the other 3 stooges thanks as well...without you silly girls I never would have kept my sanity...or had as much fun as we possibly could have during those 2 years of our crazy lives(sniff, sniff)! I must admit it is nice to get a paycheck now and not have to study all the time, but some days I am a little jealous of Brett when he comes home from school and tells me about all the stories and funnies from being at school with his buddies....and not having the responsibility of going to work every day to support the family, but i'm very grateful to have earned an education and that I'm able to help out during this exciting time of our life!

(sorry for those reading who aren't hygiene friends,
this post was probably pointless for you to read)

I Looked Out the Window and What did I See....

A momma and her baby ducklings going for a walk in our yard! They were so cute all in a single-file line!

It must be spring.....all the little goslings are out at the pond too!
So cute! Something to smile about!

Cinco de Mayo...Brett Style

A few guys from the dental class decided to pay a little tribute to the "holiday" Cinco de Mayo!

BEFORE:
AFTER:
I can definitely say I'M NOT a fan of the stache, but just for a day is ok! He doesn't look quite as authentic with the huge chops and flava-sava, but at least that way he'll look back to kind-of normal when the stache gets shaved! All he needs is a stiff white cowboy hat and he'll fit right in...in Mexico!  Just another one of Brett's many styles!

I remember taking him to meet my family for the first time....
Each year before Lake Powell Brett sees it necessary to do something "different" with his hair/facial hair. He had a huge goatee (minus the mustache) and he had just bleached it blonde because the Powell trip was only a few days away. Brett and I had only been dating a few weeks and had gone down to SLC for a Sunday Devotional at the LDS Conference Center. Since we were in SL already I thought we should drop in at my parents and say hi! How's that for a 1st impression?! ha ha ha Luckily his charm won them over!

Last year at this time i was actually celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Mexico....not on vacation, but a dental/service trip! Go HERE to see some pics....many of you have already seen these, but if not...ENJOY!
HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!!

Lemonaide Anyone?

One thing we found out about Columbus when we got here is it has the rank for 3rd dirtiest city water in the country. How's that for something to brag about?

It's easy to believe....there are no peaks for mountain run-off.  Luckily we have a purifier in our fridge and we keep Costco in business by buying bottled water.  After it rains here i think all the nastiness just recycles through the  pipes....i started a load of laundry and this is what i saw in our washer...SICK!! Drained it and waited till the next day to wash....how can clothes come clean with this?!
