Doc's Retirement & Anderton Dental Grand Opening

The new dental office was finished and moved into at the beginning of January, but we waited for fair weather to hold a grand opening. We decided to combine it with Doc's retirement party so patient's could come see the new building and wish him well on his retirement at the same time!

These were centerpieces I put together for the retirement luncheon that was for family, staff and previous employees.
The luncheon was just in the basement of the new office.

We had lunch catered in... this was the food service line :)
Jaimilyn, Tiff, Brystun, Morgan and I
I only got video when Doc gave his speech, wish I would have snapped a pic! We had a great time reminiscing back over his 39 years of practice. What a great professional he has been!

The new sign out front got finished just in time!
Dr. Brett and Dr. Jared grilled hot dogs and polish dogs in the parking lot for everyone who stopped by...
In the background you can see part of the bounce-house, and drink station...

Everyone that came through and toured the office got their name in a drawing for various prizes, got a goody bag w a toothbrush/paste/floss, and kids got to play games for prizes
Elsa and Anna even showed up to see the little kids! The weather was supposed to be yucky, but luckily it held out till literally minutes after we got cleaned up!
Doc has passed down and tradition of excellent patient care and beautiful dental work. My dental career started with this guy back in 2001, as a front office girl, then a year later as his chair-side assistant for several years as I worked on school for dental hygiene...he taught me to love dentistry and the patients I care for. These 2 have "big" shoes to fill. I have no doubt they will do a great job!
 Congrats Doc!!

Other April Happenings

April was a busy month! Jet got a fresh new haircut from Dad! haha! His face says it all.
We got to witness our cousin, Willa, get baptized. It was a special day!
A Sunday before church... heaven help us if they could just look at the camera!

Middle of April and Winter decides to finally show up???

My sweet Grandma Dorothy celebrated a birthday. 78 years!! I honestly, until this birthday (because the candles told me so), have never known her age. Whenever I've asked Grandma how old she is, her response has always been, "I'm as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth." Which is true... :)

Just Jet and I drove down to be with the family tonight. Ike wasn't feeling well so we didn't want to spread germs. Grandma is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. It is getting harder each time we visit for her to remember much. She didn't know who we were tonight, but was still able to manage a smile here and there for the camera. I thank my grandma for a pretty smile. I've always loved her straight, healthy teeth. As a kid I remember her always sitting down to watch a TV show and pulling out her floss, and flossing her teeth while she watched. Maybe she was my original inspiration to become a dental hygienist?!

Grandpa takes care of Grandma at home. He has been an amazing care-giver for her. I know it must take a ton of patience, along with physical and mental strength and I'm so grateful for his love for her. As grandpa put grandma to bed I got to witness a little part of their daily routine as he sat next to her bedside and tickled her arm. We told grandma Happy Birthday, goodnight/goodbye and for a few moments it seemed like she knew exactly what was going on as she looked up at us and said, "Thanks for coming." Then Grandpa tickled her arm until she fell asleep. Such a tender moment I will cherish.

The boys and I made a trip to the instacare one Sunday morning because of coughs, fevers, and Ike had terrible welts/hives all over. Apparently just a virus....wait it out.

Krispy Kreme donuts gives the kids a free donut (up to 6) for every "A" on their report card... if that isn't motivation to get good grades, then I don't know what is?! haha!

Cute Ike in the tub... when I see this pic of him I see Brett as he looked in his toddler pictures!
Just another day of Super Heroes, planning to save the world!

Jet took a round of swimming lessons... Emri always greeted him after with a towel as he got out of the pool!

Just 2 weeks after the snow, I was able to have my Young Women class come over for an activity called "Soul Pancake." We ate pancakes, then on a more serious note, wrote a letter to someone who has influenced/made a big impact on our lives. Then without them knowing, they all had to then call that person and read their letter to them. Very touching!
Brett cooked all the pancakes for us on his new Camp Chef.

Bretty's 33!!

This year the UDA Dental Convention fell on Brett's bday so he had to leave pretty early in the morning. So we saved breakfast in bed and celebrating till the weekend.
I guess I was lazy this year... or just decided to simpify?! Kneaders pulled through with some awesome desserts!
This pic cracks me up! They all needed to be in on the action... but trying to eat around eachother got a bit tricky at times!

The kids gave him this indoor basketball hoop so they can all play together.... and I gave him a gift card to get a 90 min massage.
We sure love this hubby/daddy of ours and are so thankful for all that he does for our family!

Ike @ 19 Months

He got a new hat with Daddy at Target... and wants to sleep with it on most days.
He couldn't get enough of being under the waterfall at the house in St. George where we stayed.

Where I can find him anytime I need to prepare dinner... :)

In the past month I feel like our family has had a lot of "sick days." A month ago, Ike's ears were clear again, but now double ear infections... and all that comes with it. Lots of snot, gunky eyes, and minimal sleep. Overall he remains to be a pretty darn sweet little boy. I've lost the notes i keep on my phone, but i'm pretty sure 2-3 more teeth have erupted in the last month! Finally some chompers to start eating with!
