Jet @ 2 Months

CHECK-UP STATS
Weight: 13lbs. 6oz. (84%)
Height: 23 1/4 inches (61%)
Head: 16 inches (73%)

Jet is growing like a weed!! He's a pretty happy boy for the most part. Some of his milestones and happenings thus far:
  • 6 weeks: slept 6 hours at night, started smiling.
  • 7 weeks: slept 8 hours at night (not always though)
  • 8 weeks: goes to bed around 8:30 or 9, then sleeps about 8 1/2 hours after his last feeding at 10 pm.
  • had his first set of shots at dr....was NOT happy about that! He screamed, then did the "no breathe" for about 10 seconds, turned bright red, then dark purple, then finally let it all out! Poor guy!
  • Dr gave RX reflux med at his appt...he's been a litte fussy when he eats so hopefully this will help.
  • Now wearing size 2 diapers.
  • Not a great napper in the pack n play....like to be held or out and about in the car to sleep
  • likes to smile and coo first thing in the morning and after his belly is full.
  • his big sis LOVES him a lot...several times a day Emri takes his hand and in a high-pitched baby talk voice she says "oh! baby brother feenos (fingers) sooo tiny!! oh he's soo cute!!"
  • loves his baths, is now ok with being lotioned, but still gets mad when we put his shirts over his head. silly boy!
Okay fellow RDH..do you remember the term "ankyloglossia?" Jet was born tongue-tied. Luckily for us it didn't affect his ability to eat, but I had concerns about speech, and him not being able to stick his tongue out down the road (seriously!), ok and his "mojo" but that's another story for another day! haha! At 6 weeks we had his tongue clipped. It was no big deal...no anesthesia or anything. Just some sterile scissors and a little snip. He was more mad that the nurse was holding his head still than anything :) Now he'll be able to stick his tongue out and enjoy licking ice cream (one day) like the rest of us!
It isn't very often that Brett gets this kind of time with Jet....Emri is VERY demanding of her dad's attention the second he walks through the door! I couldn't help but snap this pic! We love this little dude!

If you ever....

have your house up for sale, and decide to throw random things (such as bread) into the oven as a quick hiding spot to de-clutter your counter for a showing....don't forget to pull said items out of the oven before you pre-heat it for dinner!

Luckily, it only set us back a bag of rolls, and a bagel.....and about 30 minutes on dinner time since we were scraping melted plastic bag from the racks and floor of the oven :) Oh, our house smelled lovely by the way!
At least it wasn't a brand new Dust-Buster Vac.... (sorry Amanda). Apparently this is a common occurence around here! haha!

My 2 Favorite Boys

Last weekend we were busy celebrating my 2 most favorite guys!

We started off Friday evening celebrating Brett's 29th Birthday with some of our friends at Brio Tuscan Grille. So. So. Good. Brett went all out and ordered the lamb chops, and he was very happy with his decision :)
Brian (well he's not really in the picture...sorry Bri), Lacy, Meg, Miles, Brett, Shayne, Sherri
Rachel, Brian, Dallin, Amanda, Me, and the Birthday Boy!
Rachel, Brian, Dave, Steph
BEST. DESSERT. EVER. (vanilla creme brulee, raspberry mascarpone cheesecake, and butterscotch pecan bread pudding). My mouth is watering all over again!
Saturday was the actual Birth-Day :) Brett was a little neglected. I had somewhere to be in the morning, so he got to wake up with the kids, then we spent the afternoon getting ready for Jet's blessing. We did have time for some presents of course! Emri's favorite part of the day....I don't think she cares what's in them, she just likes to open! Saturday night my mom flew into town and we celebrated with just our fam at The Olive Tree for dinner.
Sunday was a big day for this tiny guy :) It was his blessing day!
(not sure why, but his hair looks red in this pic...it's still blondish)
He's so handsome in his special outfit!
My cousin Jill made him this beautiful blue afghan. Thanks Jill! Brett gave him a really nice blessing at church. I'm so grateful for his worthiness to hold the Priesthood and bless our family.
Our fam after church.
My most favorite boys!
My favorite kids :)
Emri really loves her brother.....Thank goodness!
After church we had a small luncheon/shin-dig at our house with some close friends. The weather was GORGEOUS...85* and sunny!! What more can you ask for?! The boys played the first round of cornhole for the season...

And the girls enjoyed the food and air-conditioning indoors!
Heather,Meg, Me & Jet, Momma Max, Rachel, Amanda
Finally we sang to Brett and enjoyed some BTS cake!
Emri took a ride on her friend's scooter!
And the afternoon was spent like this....

In all it was a great weekend! Happy Birthday Brett! I love you to pieces! And happy blessing day Baby Jet....you are such a sweet mellow boy and we couldn't imagine our family without you!

Stuff and Things...

We really haven't been up to much of anything lately....the weather keeps teasing us. Mostly it's been cold so we stay inside. Papa was here this week for work, so we got to spend some time with him. Per E's request, she got to hold baby brother, watch a show, and "cuddo" (cuddle) with Papa all at the same time!
E had a cold last week that turned into a fever, ear infection, and a doctors visit with an RX. About an hour before we left for her dr appt she reached up while my dad was ironing his shirt and touched the iron :( She had a pretty nasty blister, that I DID NOT take a picture of. When I got her out of bed the next morning, I asked to see her finger and the blister had been popped....most of the skin was gone. When I asked Emri what happened to her skin she replied, "I EAT IT!" Then I threw-up in my mouth a little! KIDS!

The morning Emri woke up with a fever she was so sweaty and gross, and very emotional so I told her she could get in mommy's shower all by herself! We rarely showered with E when she was little...i was too scared of her slipping out of our arms. So, this was a treat to E to jump in and play by herself in there! Over the next couple of days she begged to shower several times a day. One night this week while Brett was letting her shower (we just closed the frosted glass doors and watch her from outside) all of a sudden she stopped playing with her cups and bucket and was silent and still. Brett asked her what she was doing? To which she replied "I'm Poopin' Daddy!" hahaha! The only reason I laugh is because I was feeding Jet when it happened so he got to be on poop-scoop duty all by himself! :) I could see him in the bathroom from where I was sitting in my rocker....he kept looking out at me and we couldn't stop laughing! Brett made it very clear that we don't poop in the shower (in between his giggles)....So now whenever we give E the cue of "NO MORE...??" She replies "No mowe poopin en da showoh!"

Not sure how this is comfortable enough for sleeping.....
This sweet little guy is 7 weeks old! Last week he did 2 nights in a row of 7 hours of sleep! yay! Sadly for me, one of those nights was when E woke up at 5am with her fever. bummer! He hasn't done it since, but usually does about 6 hours from 10-4am. He's still a pretty chill dude! I can't complain! Jet also ROLLED OVER from his front to back TWICE at 5 1/2 weeks while doing tummy time! Is this unheard of?! Of course I pulled out the video camera and he hasn't done it since! Stinker!
There's lots of plans in the making for the next couple weeks....Brett's Bday, Jet's blessing day, and Gma Max is coming back :) Stay tuned for pics!

Needing Something New....

So...I don't know what it is. Ok, yes I do, I always get like this around Spring Time...the need for something new. Meaning, wanting new hair. I'm pastey white. My hair gets darker each winter. Add the "blah-ness" you feel after just having a baby, then at about 3 mos postpartum it all starts falling out/thinning....yada yada yada.

I basically grew my hair back out when we moved to Ohio because:
1. It's actually less maintenance for me when it's long.
2. I didn't know/trust anyone here to cut my hair.
3. Being poor graduate students I figured I couldn't afford to keep a cute short style (cut every 5-6 weeks cuz my hair grows fast).
Basically, I'm missing this bright natural blonde color that used to appear the second I stepped into the sun. Well, I guess things have changed (*read*) I don't spend most/all of my days poolside....or in a topless Jeep...or relaxing in a tanning bed :)

I'm really itching to cut my hair again....but still haven't heard of anyone here that LOVES the way their stylist does short cuts....I also am wanting to take the PLUNGE and (*gasp*) add some highlights for the first time (cuz i don't forsee a pool or topless Jeep in my near future)! haha! DANG-IT!

But, you see....that's a HUGE step for me and I don't trust just anyone! The question is though, can I wait till we get back to Utah to see this chica, that I would totally trust to color my hair???
Decisions. Decisions.

I saw a really cute mom at storytime at the library a few weeks ago. She had a darling cut, and blonde color....I actually introduced myself and then asked her who does her hair! I'm tempted. But then comes the $$$ factor again. And I know once you start coloring you can't stop :)
Ugh. Anyone have any suggestions. Stylist referrals?

On the other hand....I'm really trying to embrace (bleh....come to terms with) the fact that my poor skin was meant to be white. Pale. Ghostly. Vampire-esque. WHITE! haha....nope, still not sexy on me! Personally I prefer the werewolf (human version) color of skin! haha!

Sheesh! Even my newborn baby....who's sweet perfect skin has never seen the sun has darker skin than me :)
My awesome sister-in-law has been skin cancer-free now for 5 years!! She gives a good reminder/personal story of protecting your skin here.
