Emri Eleanor @ 5 Years

5 Year Well Check Stats:
Height: 43 1/2 inches (71%)
Weight: 41 lbs. (59%)

Did I really start this chair tradition 5 years ago??
Time... you are a thief!

The girl is a water bug! Loves to be in the pool, at the lake, or in a boat. A girl after my own heart!
She tried out soccer last fall and loved it! We're gearing up for Spring soccer now.

She was thrilled to go back to her same preschool this year!

She is always writing notes and drawing pictures for everyone. She's very thoughtful. This time she and daddy disagreed on something one morning and she made sure to write a sorry note for when he got home from work.
She has been the sweetest big sister (again) with Ike. She loves to hold him and make him happy.

 Here's the sass.....
Most of Emri's friends are boys.... and it scares me to say she likes their attention.
Trevin, Ryder, Luke and E after their Christmas program for school.

The girl has grown 3 1/2 inches this year and gained 5.5 lbs.

A little about E @ 5 years old:

  • Emri girl is sweet, sensitive, silly, smart, and at times a bit sassy!
  • She loves to help me with Ike and is constantly talking to him and trying to make him laugh.
  • She likes to help with a few chores around the house like putting silverware away from the dishwasher, turning socks right-side-out, matching them up and and folding them, helping put laundry away, and keeping the toilet paper stacker full (definitely important)!
  • She tries not to let Jet's teasing get to her too much. They are friends about 70% of the time.
  • Emri makes and plays with friends easily. She has more friends that are boys than girls...in preschool boys are definitely dominant in number as well as at church, she's the only girl in primary class with about 5 boys.
  • She likes the boys attention and i once caught her sneaking in a kiss on the cheek to her friend Trevin as he was leaving our house from a playdate.
  • She LOVES preschool and adores her teacher Miss Jackie. We both wish she could stay there forever!
  • She's a good eater...not too picky with anything, but sometimes has a hard time with different textures.
  • She is learning to read and has been doing great with her site words.
  • She still is a lover of music and catches on to song lyrics quickly.
  • She doesn't have too much of a strong personality and is usually pretty agreeable.
  • Will still nap every once in a while.
  • Loves for mom to pick out her clothes/outfit for the day...which I don't mind!
  • She loves to play with and snuggle daddy. She's always been daddy's girl.
  • At this well check, Emri had to get (4) shots for kindergarten. She brought her "sleepy bear" and also wanted Jet to hold her hand to help her be brave. It was really sweet. She flinched a little, but no tears and was so proud of herself. We went straight for icecream after!
  • This girl has changed my life for the better! She was the perfect little angel to join our family as the first child. She has many motherly instincts. She is so caring and tenderhearted. She is positive and energetic. She is beautiful inside and out. I love her to pieces! And now I want to cry that she is already starting KINDERGARTEN this year!

BIRTHDAY PALOOZA!!!

Somewhere in this craziness is a 3 year old birthday boy!! He came in our room that morning and said there were balloons all over in his bed. When I asked him if he remembered why, it took him a second and then he said, "MY BIRTHDAY!"
Luckily his bday fell on President's Day and Brett had the day off work! YAY!
We got ready and went out for his birthday breakfast at "Granny Annie's" in Kaysville. Yep, the little squirt still fits into his B-day shirt he wore last year!
After breakfast we came back home for presents.... as you can tell by the wrapping paper, he's still in love with "minja turtles" so the gifts and cake took on the theme!

I have to say, the kids played SO WELL that day! Must have been the new toys and Jet's happy birthday disposition, but I don't remember the last time I didn't have to put one or both in time out for some reason or another. It really was such a fun day!
After browsing the web for some TMNT cake ideas.... I came up with this...which we ended up not eating till the NEXT day....
So, our original plan was to take the kids up to Midway to see the icecastles as part of their bday celebrations. We learned that day that it would be the LAST day of icecastles since it had been "unseasonably warm." We chanced it anyway. FAIL! When we got there (after a 90 min drive), a worker told us we'd be in line about 45 minutes from where we stood. After standing in line for 40 minutes and only making it about 1/2 way up the line, we decided to bail. Jet was starting to have a meltdown, it was getting a little cold out, and Ike was going to need to eat before all was said and done.  We promised Emri we would come back next year and so she was ok with leaving. We wound up at McDonald's in Heber. I was so upset, but when I asked Jet how his day was going, he gave me a big thumbs up and smile and said, "this is the best birthday ever!" Melt my heart, why don't ya! The kids were just happy to be playing at "old McDonalds" (as Jet calls it). By the time we got back home it was a bit late for cake....so we got to celebrate Jet the next day too, and he loved the extra attention. For his bday dinner request, we had "noodles with no sauce" (ok, mom and dad had sauce, but the kids ate plain old noodles) And finally, his cake! He loved it!

Atta boy!

****************************
Emri's bday was 3 days later....and what in the world?! How on earth do I have a 5 year old inside of that crate-paper castle?! That just blows my mind!
Birthday breakfast: sugared cereal!! We decided to NOT do breakfast in bed....i wasn't too fond of the idea of possibly cleaning up spilled milk from the top bunk. :)
Emri's bday didn't have much of a theme, it was all quite random.... she asked for a bracelet loom, some furniture for her dollhouse, some ninja turtle gear...and an Ariel cake. No pressure. :-/
She was so excited for her loom!

Donatello and the cutest dimple ever!

The kids were busy playing with their bday loot and I was busy working on an Ariel cake (found a great decorating idea on Pinterest). I was super stressed I was gonna botch the whole thing! Here's about 1/2 way piped.
Daddy had a long lunch break so he surprised us and came home for a couple hours....and won best daddy award for playing princesses with the birthday girl!
We had to get in our "chair" picture! 5 years?!?!?!!
To make up for a botched ice castle attempt, we took the kids to experience Chuck E. Cheeses for their first time ever. I'd say it was a hit! They had a blast!
Then the NEXT night we had Emri's bday dinner request...which was NOODLES! haha! But she wanted pesto on hers. Gma and Gpa Anderton came over to celebrate. Emri was thrilled with her cake and I was excited that it turned out pretty cute!

Gpa helped her dive right in to the first bite! E was really hesitant for me to cut into the design. I think she was a bit disappointed when we all ate Ariel!
Gma and Gpa spoiled them with some more fun toys.

We ended the night with a surprise for the kids of a fixed Wii hard drive! A couple weeks ago, Brett realized it was trashed AFTER he had already ordered a kids Wii dance party game for their bdays. It might have been due to the fact that he found about 3 Wii game discs shoved into the slot at once. I'll dare say it was a certain 3 year old boy that did it. haha! Brett ordered a new hard drive, found a video on you tube of how to replace it and fixed the wii for them. They were so excited to play...and hilarious to watch dance. I didn't get pics, just video. We had a fun (exhausting) week...and we might just have to keep the tradition of celebrating each kid for a couple of days! WHY NOT?!
