April Craziness Recap

Life has gotten pretty busy so blogging got thrown to the back-burner. I love to blog and keep track of what we've been up to, so maybe until things slow down a bit (will they ever??) I might just have to do a monthly update!

To kick off our busy April, we got to celebrate one of our favorite people! DADDY!!!! We had an extra friend that day, Luke. He didn't want to miss out on any celebrating. Traditional breakfast in bed...
Daddy's schedule opened up quite a bit at work in the days leading up to his bday, so he ended up just taking the day off! So fun to have him around all day!

We had a big roast/potatoes dinner, then the best part: dessert! Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting!

Don't worry...no children were burned in the celebrating of this birthday.
The kids were so excited that Rio2 came out that week and they thought that would be the best thing ever to take Daddy to a movie for his bday ....so, HE took THEM! It was all their idea, so I just stayed home with Ike while they had a daddy/big kid date.
Brett also shares a birthday month with both of our grandmas. Sweet Grandma "Sugar" Anderton turned 90!!! What a milestone! She is so funny, I just love this pic....ready to blow!
This is maybe 1/3 of her great grandchildren... pretty amazing!

We also got to sing to Great Gma Brklacich! Love that lady!
Our sweet neighbor, Louisa, happens to be the kids favorite babysitter as well. We went to watch her test for her blackbelt in karate...so intense and awesome!
Emri played spring soccer and the team had shown a lot of improvement and (good) aggression since last fall! Go Purple Unicorns!
 We colored Easter eggs....

...The kids had an Easter hunt at Brklacich g-parents...

We also played "spitz and gooph"

Uncle Brody had the winning egg! NOBODY could get his to crack!

We also had an Easter hunt with the Andertons...

This is seriously such a crazy event, and I'd dare say the most favorite activity among most of the grandkids! Here's the separation of the loot....gma must be fair! This is ONLY ONE of the tables!
Easter Morning at our house....the Easter Bunny paid a visit in the night and left a few little goodies and hid some candy eggs!
Trying our best for a pic in our Easter duds before church!
 They are my whole world!
The days have been perfect temps....so we hit up the dinosaur park one day that daddy had off work.
I'm not surprised Jet woke up crying in the middle of the night. He didn't say it was from dinosaur dreams, but I can't be sure....
We ventured down to St. George one weekend for a little getaway. The kids had a ball playing in the water, hanging out with their cousins, and spending time with Momma Max, who we stole away to spend the weekend with us!

Ike preferred to relax poolside in an unusual manner...
We went a couple days before daddy, so he could work, then he flew down to play for the weekend, and drove us home.

Lunch at the corn dog truck. "World's Greatest Corndogs," they lived up to their name!!
Momma Max watched the kids one night while Brett and I went on a double-date w/ his sis Mindy and her hubs, Marty. They all snuggled in gma's bed and watched cartoons while they waited for the pizza to get delivered. What a life!
 DATE NIGHT!
Our trip home came with an unexpected detour due to some crazy hostage situation ahead on the freeway. I was a little bugged to add on more time to the drive, but the kids did awesome and slept pretty much the whole extra time added from the detour (about 90 minutes) and we got to see a beautiful part of Utah we'd never driven through before. I love this state!

WOW. April was exhausting, but at least we ended it on a relaxing note in beautiful southern Utah!

Ike @ 7 Months

He has taken a liking Jet's trucks :)
sitting up in his high chair...how is he already old enough for this stuff?!
When he rolls to his stomach, he's not a fan of his mid-section being on the ground. This just looks like it takes way too much effort to be worth it!

Emri has been helping feed him...she loves helping and is always saying she can't wait to be a mommy.

At 7 months, Ike:

  • loves to pull on his socks.
  • loves peas, green beans, bananas, sweet potatoes, pears and squash...and had a slight skin reaction the 2nd time we fed him peaches. Allergic??
  • is starting to snack on puffs.
  • likes to spit.
  • has figured out how to roll onto his tummy in his crib, and usually needs to be put back on his back to fall asleep. I have found him sleeping on his tummy a couple times.
  • takes 2 naps/day
  • sleeps from about 7:30/8 pm till about 7/7:30 am...yay, back to a normal morning!
  • the stinker stopped nursing about a week before he turned 7 months...completely refuses and cries if I try. At first i thought it might still be reflux but i'm pretty sure he was just being impatient. He wants to eat fast, and THE MOMENT he's hungry...not wait for mom! So i've been pumping and he takes a bottle. We'll see how long mom can last with this business! It makes me a little sad but I'll get over it!
  • Is still our happy boy! We just love having his sweet, content spirit in our home!

March Madness

March was full of lots of randomness, so I will just dedicate ONE post to the whole crazy month...

All the oldest Anderton cousins holding all of the babies
Morgan/Georgia, Kenzie/Nora, Dexter/Ike, Carter/Hendrix
A few of the awesome ladies I get to serve with in Young Womens...Bonnie, Colette, Jami, Kecia. We took the girls to Station Park in Farmington for iceskating.
UDA Dental Convention.... A perfect time to catch up with all my hygiene school babes!
Natalie, Monica, Kelsie, Crystal, Jami
 I have a little mother-wanna-be! IT'S AWESOME!!!
My little leprechauns on Greenie Day!
E & J had a session of swimming lessons at the Surf N Swim in Layton. This was Jet's first go-round and he LOVED it! Emri did awesome as well and they both can't wait for summer!
My cousin Cody got his mission call to the Philadelphia, PA mission, leaving in August!
I threw a baby shower for my dear friend Jessica and baby girl Thea....
Just a regular wild-hair, train track morning.
When I say Jet LOVED his swimming lessons, I mean that every morning when he woke up he would ask, "Is today swimming lessons?" If I said yes, he would put his swim gear on and talk about it non-stop until lessons started....at 5:15 PM! This particular day was a long wait and he crashed on my bed in the afternoon because "swimming is taking too long!"
We experienced Scheel's for the first time... E, J, & I rode the ferris wheel and i realized something that day: being a mom has turned me into a big scaredy cat!! I was so stressed at the top of that ride with my babies rocking back and forth. I don't think i'll ever do it again! They LOVED it, of course!

Uncle Bridger moved his horses out to grandma max & papa's house and the kids were pretty excited to feed them, and Bridger filled their watering trough with goldfish for the kids....sadly I don't think any of them survived a whole week. Maybe a little too cold still?
Uncle Brody was getting a puppy soon, so he took us to see all of them from the litter...the kids loved playing with them. I loved the chubby chocolate one...
 Jet liked the golden...
Brody picked a black one; he named his Drake.
You know when there's duct tape, a ladder, and some car tie-down straps involved....it's gonna be a good fort!! Brett made this for the kids one sunday afternoon, then set up the ipad with a movie for the kids inside. They got to have a late night with popcorn as the start to Spring Break. Such an awesome daddy!

Ike @ 6 Months

6 Month Well Check Stats
Weight: 15 lbs 12.5 oz (17%)
Height: 26 1/4 inches (33%)
Head Circumference: 17 1/8 inches (58%)

Wasn't too sure about rice cereal...does ok with oatmeal.

First baby food was beets (that my friend Cherrie had made for her baby)....and he liked them!

 With Great Gma Brklacich
Emri is reading her homework book to the boys before preschool one day. She's such a good sis to these boys!

At 6 months, Ike:
  • likes to grab at his feet
  • so far is liking baby food and has tried: oatmeal, peas, bananas, beets and squash. He was not a fan of rice cereal.
  • is taking 2-3 naps/day
  • thinks he's funny and has started waking up between 4-5 am. I usually just go put his binky in and he'll go back to sleep...but then is awake for the day at 6:30. What happened?!
  • He's still a happy guy and so easy going!
