LAKE POWELL '07

So, now that i have a little down time (even though we're not completely unpacked) i want to catch up a few things on the blog. I know this trip was a couple months ago, but for all who weren't there here's some Lake Powell '07 highlights! Really, this is a minimum of pics i had to choose from, so sorry if it's still too many!I have no idea where Brett busted out this hideous shirt from, but he insisted on wearing it most of the trip!
The Gilson boys in the kid pool...the first few days were a little nippy out, not to mention the icy water! Not very typical for Powell. We actually played a game one night where we drew cards out of a pile and whoever picked the specific card had to jump in the cold water!
Ruby in her floaty...apparently, afternoon naps are hard to come by!
The kids ready for tubing
Everett trying his hand at fishing...with licorice as bait! I think his line was only about 3 feet long! So CUTE!
Jared about to dive down and save Evie's fishing pole after it jumped out of his hands! Everyone on the boat is trying to tell him where it's at.
A little time out on the wakeboard!
Everett and Kenya "watching" the puff paint to make sure it dries correctly!
YAY JAIMILYN!! Jaimi's first time skiing! She ROCKED!
The tradition of Lake Powell...every year the boys go up top the houseboat for a 3 hour game of RISK.
I put a lot of pics of the Water Weenie/Banana on because that was one my favorite parts of the trip...i have to admit i was scared to death to get on that thing with these big boys!
We totally sucked at taking the corners! We spent more time getting back on the thing than actually riding it! At first i was told to be on the last seat...apparently nobody else knows how BOUNCY that ride is from the back!
I was totally straining every last muscle in my arms to hang on, while the boys up front were bouncing and havin a good ol time!
I have not laughed that hard in a long time!!
Teamwork to get back on! At this point Brett is just hanging there trying to catch his breath!
Although i cringed around every turn wondering which person was going to land on me next, we had a riot!
Brett and his buddy Kenya
The kids love the slide off the back of the houseboat. From this angle it looks like sliding into a big black hole!
Ryan showin off his skills
The girls trip...much more gentle, but still full of fun and lots of laughs!!
The two wonderful people who make this trip possible! WE LOVE YOU!

Brett and Ruby

I just had to post these cute pics of Brett and Ruby! It's more of a tribute to their friendship...so Ruby i hope you're reading this!!! ha ha ha When we moved to Morgan in May i don't think Brett realized how well he'd get along with Ruby! Having them live just upstairs was so much fun!
Brett wasn't working for about 3 weeks before we left and they got a lot of play time in during the days! It was so fun to come home from work and have Brett tell me about the cute things Ruby did that day...i think this is how it will be when we have our own kids! I just hope our kids are as stinkin cute as she is! Our house is so quiet here...Brett always mentions how much she would add to his day...we really missed them while they were gone for a week to California.I always thought it would be best to have a boy first to be the "big brother" but now i don't care what we have first (when the time comes of course) because to see Brett just melt over Ruby and one of our other little nieces, Kenya, is so cute. He would do anything for them!

Maybe she loves him because he will do anything for her...see the drink and of course Brett trying to look so innocent! Brett would always get caught giving Ruby treats and snacks and cake...BUT...how could someone say NO to this face? We miss the Rubster along with the rest of our freakin awesome family! We love you guys!!

WHAT I'VE LEARNED SO FAR...

There are a few secrets to living in Ohio that we've learned in only 3 short days...

1. The humididty could kill ya...Brett probably lost 10 lbs of water weight while unloading the moving truck. It's really normal to see someone whose t-shirt is completely drenched.

2. We're gonna have to get a Sam's Club membership....the Costco is too far of a drive for an addict like me!

3. There's a grocery store "Giant Eagle." If you buy gift certificates there (Chili's, Sears, iTunes, Olive Garden, Kohl's, etc...) you can earn points towards your next gas purchase. We bought 250 of Sears gift cards to put towards a washer/dryer and we will be getting about $1.50/gallon off when we fill up next time.

4. Buying a washer/dryer is A LOT OF $$$$$$$!

5. If you catch a firefly and squish it...you will get electrical glow-in-the-dark juice smeared all over your fingers!

6. Don't mistake the flashing light off the cell phone in someone's pocket for a firefly!

7. Within an our of meeting our next door neighbor Sarah, we had a welcome card, fresh garden tomatoes, and warm dessert on our back porch!

8. I met about 6 other dental wives last night at a get together (all from Utah) and i think we are all going to get along really well!

9. OHIO is ok so far!

It's OFFICIAL!

So, we're here! We FLEW in last night...unloaded the truck this morning and have been trying to unpack! I love our house as much as i did the first time we saw it!

We are not afoot as we thought we might be....the car we thought we'd bought last week did not work out for the best. Luckily my dad was out here on business and was able to get a car at the Tuesday auction! YAY! We saw it for the first time yesterday! I am currently at the auction w/ my dad and Brett...therefore i have internet access....we don't at the house yet so i don't know when i'll be able to post next, but we are here!

Just for the record...i only cried about 5 times on the flight out!!
